John Lemieux leads Matson Logistics’ global transportation solutions for the U.S. Government, including the Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, and other military and aid relief agencies. Matson Logistics is a part of Matson, a U.S. Jones Act carrier serving the Pacific for nearly 140 years.

John has more than 35 years of experience managing large-scale overseas deployments for the U.S. Military, including transporting containers, rolling stock, weapons, and breakbulk cargo in difficult and dangerous regions.

He also directs commercial project moves that require customized transport equipment, specialized chartered vessels, and expertise in intermodal and blue water logistics. From next-day, mission-critical resupply to massive, multi-year construction projects, John is the company lead for this business. He and his operations team will deploy throughout the Pacific region to be on-site, ensuring Matson Logistics fulfills all project requirements.

John serves as the lead liaison to FEMA for all transportation requests throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, and Alaska. His team also manages deployments in Asia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. This includes project cargo, scheduled “Blue Sky” transportation, retrograde moves, and emergency exercises.

A native of Utah, John holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Montana. He started his career in transportation in 1986 when he joined C.H. Robinson. After taking on several senior roles, he left Robinson in 1998 to start the truck transportation division of RISS Intermodal. RISS was subsequently acquired by Matson Logistics in 2001. John is a two-time recipient of the Matson Presidential Award, the highest employee recognition at the company.
